Gigabit x2 upload issues

So I have just recently upgraded my plan to gigabit x2 and my download speeds have upgraded from 8mbps to 800mbps on my pc but my upload speeds downgraded from 11mbps to 5mbps I am concerned that the issue is that I activated my plan on the old router instead of waiting for the new onee to arrive.

user_8l0rq0 Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. I understand your frustration with your recent upgrade to Gigabit x2. It's definitely concerning when download speeds improve significantly, but upload speeds take a dip, especially after waiting for a new plan. I appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience. I'm here to help figure this out. It's possible that activating the plan on your old router could be contributing to the upload speed issue, but it's not always the case. Sometimes, the initial activation process can have some hiccups, and we need to refresh things on our end.

To get a better understanding of what's happening, I have a few questions:

  1. Have you tried restarting your modem and router (both the old one and, if you have it, the new one) since activating the new plan? This simple step often resolves minor connection issues.
  2. Have you tested your upload speeds on other devices besides your PC, such as a phone or tablet, while connected to your home Wi-Fi? This will help us isolate whether the issue is specific to your PC or the network itself.
  3. If you have received your new equipment, have you tried setting it up and testing the speeds with that one yet? If so, were the upload speeds any different?

Once I have this information, I can better understand the situation and offer some tailored troubleshooting steps.  We'll work together to get those upload speeds where they need to be!
