Getting 2.4 security cameras to sync to wifi

I owned our previous "gateway."  It stopped working, so went to Xfiniity and got THEIR gateway.  Hooked it up, and gave our 2.4 and 5 bands new names.  Now our security cameras, which are MOUNTED 20' HIGH don't connect.  I wonder if i rename our 2.4 band the original name that the security cameras were used to might solve the problem.

Any ideas?  This change-over has been INCREDIBLY frustrating and time consuming, took about 2 hours with tech support to get the new gateway to work and to get our two landlines running.

I'm not looking forward to any more difficulties.

Hello user_0ieff6 thank you so much for taking the time to reach us here regarding your 2.4 GHz cameras and syncing them to the Xfinity Gateway. Which model of Gateway do you have? On newer Xfinity Gateways, to make sure the 2.5 and 5 GHz bands stay separate, you will need to disable Band Steering in the Xfinity App. This will make it easier for your cameras to connect to the right network.

-Edit Wi-Fi Settings

-Split Bands to On (Just above the "Save" radio button)

Yes indeed, changing the 2.4 back to the original name (AND original password) will make the cameras connect. This is normal; anytime you change either the name or password of a WiFi network, any devices that haven't been reconfigured with the new name/pass will not connect. The proper procedure is to reconfigure the cameras (and anything else that stores the WiFi) BEFORE you change over the name/password. Hope this helps!
