Geolocation problem for Xfi xb7 gateway ipv4 ip addresss
After an xfinity neighborhood network update the IPV4 address on my xfi xb7 gateway device is geolocated in Indiana. I live in Illinois not near Indiana. I have verified the Ip address across multiple devices (multiple TVs different vendors, laptops and IPads an iPhones) in my home. All report using the xb7 IPV4 IP address. The devices are WiFi connected and wired connections directl connected to the xb7 gateway. All devices report the same IP address that is displayed in the Xfinity app for the xb7 gateway. No VPN or intermediate routes/switches are being used. A quick lookup of the IP address geolocation on any of the hundreds of IP location confirm that the IP address is geolocated in Indiana. This incorrect geolocation is causing me serious problems with TV stream8ng services and business laptops that keep resynching clock to EST from CST and logging that I am using the device in Indiana. This is a serious problem. I have talked to xfinity support multiple times and they tell me there is no problem because my internet connection is working. Yes, my internet connection is working BUT xfinity/comcast is not playing by the rules and issuing IP addresses that have incorrect geolocations. Do not blame this on geolocation aggregators. Xfinity/comcast can check to make sure the geolocation is correct for the location of the device and reassign a correct IP or fix the geolocation issue. Repeatedly telling me I do not have a problem when I actually do have a problem with xfinity owned/managed resources is bad business. I have read form threads for the same issue and a common suggestion is to personally request a fix withe the geolocation agregators. I refuse to do that for an IP address I do not own and nor should I be expected to do that by xfinity. This simply makes xfinity look stupid. In this hi tech world that relies on very accurate IP address geolocation for commercial, financial and personal security having an ISP that does not care is a pretty good reason to start looking for another provider.
