Gateway wifi range
The range of the wifi seems to be less than the old modem. The new one is in the same place the old one was. Is there a setting I am not using?

@user_no832d Thank you so much for your post on your new modems Wi-Fi range. There hasn't been any chance in the range of the devices but each modem is different and can encounter interference. This a great page to check on tips for placement and improving your connection as well as some great troubleshooting steps. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/improve-wifi-third-party-router
Also with our Xfi enabled gateways we do offer the Xfi complete option that not only takes care of the modem rental fee but includes unlimited data and an in home Wi-Fi assessment. The assessment would start shortly after the Xfi complete feature was activated and lasts 14 days to see how your devices function with the connection over that time. If during that 14 day time frame our system detects you need to help a recommendation for one of our Xfi pods would be presented with a free offer!
