Gateway modem connection issues

We switched out our xfinity gateway for another because the modem was displaying a red light all the time. Everything was working great on it though. We were just concerned it was about to go out. We got home with our new one and hooked everything back up. There was a continuous blinking orange on the modem. We called xfinity tech support and they tried troubleshooting but no luck.  They told us to take the modem back and get another one just in case it was faulty. Brought home another new one and still same issue. Just blinking orange. We are currently waiting on a technician to come to our home. The thing is, everything was working fine until we swapped the modems.

I too currently have issues connecting a new modem.  Have gone with two modems so far and Xfinity can't activate them.  But then I am able to connect my old one back??  But then they say I should get one of their modems.  Hmm???

chriss1967 Thank you so much for your post for help your connection issues after swapping out your modem. The red light was an indication of a signal issue. Even if you did not notice an issue with your connection that light means the modem detected one. It would make sense if that was not taken care of before the swap it would continue with the new device. I would for sure recommend the tech visit so I am glad they were able to get that set up for you. I would be happy to check in with you after your appointment if you would like just let me know.
