Gateway login

Hi all. I have a technicolor cgm4140COM and I am trying to get into the advanced settings to turn it into bridge mode.
I have tried every UN and pw included admin /password admin/admin and admin/ password written on modem.
I also reset the gateway modem via the tiny button with a paper clip and still these logins do not work. Help!!

... I am trying to get into the advanced settings to turn it into bridge mode. ...

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/troubleshooting-your-cable-modem sez:

A factory reset restores your gateway to its original default settings, including your WiFi name and password. If prompted, you’ll be required to create a custom WiFi name and password and reconnect devices to your home network using this information. To manually restore factory settings, follow the following steps depending on your gateway model.

  • Locate the Reset button on the back of the gateway and use a non-metallic pointed object (such as a toothpick) to hold in the Reset button for 30 seconds until all the LED lights power off.
  • If your gateway does not have a Reset button, locate the WPS button and hold it for 30 seconds.

Explain to everyone why you have to reset the router every time just to access an admin console. Sounds bogus to me!!

Adding a space when you login with admin password?  Script blocker on your browser?  Try Chrome or Bing -- the swiss cheese of internet security.

@user_354b60, Here are steps to disable bridge mode.

  1. Using a device connected to your home network, open a web browser and go to the Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1.
    • If you're disabling bridge mode, this device must be connected to your gateway with an Ethernet cable.
  2. Enter the default username and password:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: password (case sensitive)
    • Note: If you previously changed your Admin Tool password, use the new password to log in.
    • From the left-hand column, select Gateway > At a Glance.
    • Next to Bridge Mode, click Enable.

Do you have xFi pods? You must be using a Ehternet conneciton on the device you are accessing the admin tool with for this work.

I tried all holding the reset for 30 seconds. Still isn’t working. I can get to the login page but the password is still incorrect apparently… anyone have any ideas?

Also I do not have xfi pods. And my laptop does not have the ability to be wired to the gateway itself. This can’t be the only way…

@user_354b60 It looks like @BruceW had made the suggestion to swap out the equipment if you were still having issues after a factory reset. Were you able to swap equipment and resolve the concern or did you still need assistance?

If the device still doesn't accept the preprinted login info after a factory reset, then it's defective and should be returned to Comcast for replacement.
