Gateway Firmware Updates
I thought I posted here when Avast started complaining that my Gateway Firmware was not current but don't see the Thread now??? I remember checking the manufactorers site and indeed the firmware was not up to date to their specs at least. So how do I know if I'm up to date and if not how to update the firmware in my Gateway?
I have to say, I'm conimplating getting my own router if Comcast cannot keep me secure! And to top it off, don't even acknoledge that the Gateway Firmware is out of date. Would someone please point me in the right direction or tell me what I should be doing to get firmware updates.
Why can't I find my old post also?

Click on your own forum name if you want to see your posting history. Firmware updates happen automatically. There is nothing that you can do manually.

If you're thinking of the DNSMasq error messages we often see from antivirus programs, it doesn't apply to modern Comcast gateways because the DNS settings on those are hard coded so they can't be changed by external attacks.
Plus mind you, you're more at risk from third party anti virus programs than you are with a Comcast gateway. See this article for details.

Thanks, I did that but don't see the thread I thought I created when Avast was complaining about Firmware Updates. I know they do happen automatically and I reboot often enough to possibley facilitate that process.
