gateway connection

my gateway was showing no light, i moved it to another room so i could figure out if it was the outlet or my gateway. when i did that the gateway turned on but sat there and flashed orange for 30 minutes. i then moved it back to the room it was originally in and tested out the other outlets, turns out all of the outlets in that room are out. my question is, when i get the outlets figured out will it have trouble connecting like it did in the other room or should it connect just fine since that’s the room it’s always been in?

It depends. Something may have changed recently with the connection / line where the signal strength is now too weak. You may need to check the line / splitters / hardware for integrity. You may need to book a premises tech visit to investigate further. Good luck !

user_wflfms Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. Just to clarify, when you say the outlets are out, you are referring to power outlets or are you referring to the coaxial line outlet? If it is an issue with the power outlets, it should hopefully resolve the connection issue once you get power back to that room.

If you are referring to the coaxial outlets, the original outlet is your best bet, as you may have outlets in other rooms that simply were never activated by a technician. @EG is correct that you'll want to make sure that the connections are secure at the original outlet the modem was connected to. If you are still experiencing service issues please let us know, that way our team can assist further with troubleshooting.
