Gateway CGM4140COM has a firmware bug with Gigabit and Bridge Mode

I've gone through three CGM4140COM  gateways now.  Initial connection and activation is fine, I get the full gig speed on speed tests (using both the comcast xfinity speed test and the fast.com speedtest).

As soon as I switch the box over to Bridge mode, my service goes down to 500~650.  Switching back out of bridge mode it still sits at 500~650.

If I do a full factory reset using the push-button on the back, and then reconfigure, it will go back to 1gbps.  But as soon as you put it in bridge mode again it drops to 500~650.

This only started happening about a week or two ago.  Service was fine and the full 1gig in bridge mode for the months that I have had gigspeed service.

Fix this bug.

Did another factory reset, got 1000 working in bridge mode for a few hours.  went to bed, woke up, back to 450~550.

What do you get for speed when you connect a single device (i.e. computer) by ethernet directly to the gateway in Bridge Mode, without a router involved? Make sure to reboot the gateway and any devices connected every time you switch out devices.

I went through three Comcast modems and had a tech out to check the lines, same issue. Replaced with my own modem and now everything is working

I have the same issue. Comcast was just here.  and the tech even was puzzled about this.  If you put the cable modem (XB6) in bridged mode the speed woll not go above 700Mb.  I have had plently of this style of modem... i was getting 950Mb most of the time ... then in Dec 2019 or Jan 2020... something changed on the XB6.  This stinks... because i now cannot use the Dynamic DNS feature on my Nighthawk to access my home equipment.  I think this their way to force contol of you device.  I wonder if I bought a modem would I have the same issue?
