Gaming Help (Xbox series X)

Hello so my NAT type is essentially closed and i’ve been trying to change it to open. I’ve tried port forwarding but that didn’t work. So I found out there’s a setting on https://10.0.0.1 i’d have to change but for some reason it claims that my login I use on Xfinity is incorrect. The login located on the back of the modem doesn’t work as well.

Any tips or advice? (I’ve tried resetting the modem and console multiple times).

Hey there, user_65f4ym! We appreciate you reaching out on our XFINITY Community forum this weekend. Rest assured, you have reached the right team to assist you with managing your port forwarding concerns. You will need to log in to the XFINITY app to manage your port forwarding settings as we have implemented this change recently. Please follow the steps below once you have logged in the app.
-Go to WiFi tab
-Advanced settings
-Port forwarding
-Select your Xbox
-Choose "Manual Setup"
-Enter your specific ports
I have provided a link here with more information at Advanced Settings in XFINITY App. Please let us know if you need any further assistance as we are always happy to assist!

@XfinityNatalie Thank you for a timely response, I added the port forwarding that my xbox listed but my NAT type is still closed, I can’t seem to access https://10.0.0.1 to check the settings for UPNP.

Thank you, @user_65f4ym The admin tool is disabled by default, however, if you wish to access advanced settings (e.g., WiFi name/password changes) via the admin tool can manually enable access through a new toggle in the WiFi Advanced settings of the app. The Xfinity App version 5.62 is the latest version with the toggle for the admin tool. You can try bridging the modem to a separate router as port forwarding and UPnP might be blocked by Xfinity's "Bridge Mode" or Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT).-Richard

I enabled the setting in the app but when going to https://10.0.0.1 my login is supposedly incorrect but i’m able to login and out of the app and xfinity.com, I’ve seen on another forum it was suggested to try the user and password listed on the back of the modem but those credentials didn’t work as well.

user_65f4ym To confirm are you using just our gateway, or do you have your own router in use with our gateway in bridge mode? Are you hardwired to the gateway when trying to connect to the Admin portal?

I’m using only the equipment provided by xfinity (XB8), I’m not hardwired when trying to access https://10.0.0.1 but the Xbox is hardwired to the modem.

@XfinityRichard

There's nothing an end user can do to circumvent a "CG NAT" as it is in the Comcast WAN network topography.
