G34 modem compatible?

Hello,

Is the g34 arris modem compatible with xfinity? I only see the g36 on the list and it's $100 more.

Hey there user_qw5nkr, thank you for reaching out, and sharing your time. Are you reviewing the compatible modems using this 'Link'? The Arris G34 is compatible and would even work with our enhanced speeds, so you're good to go with that one. Did you already purchase or activate a G43?

Yes. I have the 1100 mbps plan. I'm purchasing the modem this week. Internet scheduled for next wed!

@user_qw5nkr, that's great to hear, thank you for making us part of your home🙌! You can activate your modem using the steps listed in this 'Walkthrough'. If you're able to click the link I provided above, you'll see the list of compatible modems. If you're in a Next-Gen area, the G34 is compatible with those advanced speeds. You can see those compatible modems by scrolling all the way to the bottom of the page and clicking the PDF link on the right. Were you able to access that compatibility link?

... g34 arris modem ... g36 ...

Both are compatible modem + Wifi router gateway devices. The G36 is approved for Gigabit service, the G34 is not.

See the "All Compatible Devices" PDF linked near the bottom of https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices (at the moment that link points to https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2025.03.06%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf, but this changes from time to time).

1,000 Mbps (1 Gbps) and above.

No. Comcast rates the G34's "Wired Download Speed" at "Up to 934 Mbps". See the "All Compatible Devices" PDF.

AFAIK Comcast/Xfinity has never said how they provision devices operating on speed tiers they're not approved for. All I can tell you is that many customers who tried it have reported that they don't get full speed. There's a tendency to think the device will operate at the maximum speed it is capable of, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Hi @user_qw5nkr is your arris g34 working properly? I also have g34 but recently I am having a lot of internet dropping issues where modem keeps restarting every hour or so.
