FW.IPv6 INPUT drop , 7345 Attempts,

Hi! I was just reaching out because I have been an Xfinity customer for four years now and I've never really had problems with my Internet. Recently, I started having problems with my Internet and it keeps showing firewall blocked, and then it shows dish next to it. 7345 attempts have been blocked. There are also a few other firewall blocks and my Internet has been spotty. I am having a technician stop out Wednesday. Having the Internet connection drop has been annoying, but that's not my biggest concern. I am very adamant on my security because I work from home at my office and used advance security as well. I just want to know that this is not a security threat. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I am still experiencing these issues. I have a technician coming out tomorrow. I have not done anything to the firewall settings.

@XfinityEva also, I just followed the link and I have already done all this. I have gone to the security of the modem through the web browser and look at the security levels. It is set to low.

@user_xsp861 Thank you for the update. Since you already have a technician, let's hold off on any further troubleshooting until that is completed.

In the meantime https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse has instructions on how to report firewall attacks as well as several other security risks.

the tech said this was the first time he had seen this issue and was not sure how to address it.

It's not a security issue. It's just random ever-present background internet noise. Port scanning by bad actors happens all the time. Those messages indicate that the firewall is doing its job, blocking / dropping the attempts. There's nothing to "address" or "resolve".

I appreciate the response! So does that mean someone is trying to access the Wi-Fi? I am just not sure if this is what is slowing my Internet down. The tech even came out and was surprised. I have one gigabit Speed now and even if you’re standing near the modem and you run a speed test on your phone, it’s only pulling 100 MBPS. When I run a speed test on my computer, which is only in the other room and my entire entire house is only 1300 ft.². It pulls a max of 80 MBPS but several months ago, it used to pull around 300 MBPS

The modem itself is pulling over one gigabit when you test it. Have gotten two modems as well and I have the brand new Xfinity modem and I still can’t seem to get that much data on any device

@user_xsp861 That is good to read, and I'm glad thorough checks have been made to ensure the service is good to the modem or home. I know expecting the full speed to all devices is expected, but sometimes that may not happen. My iPhone 13 doesn't get nearly the speeds I subscribe to, but it never has trouble as I do get the full speed from my service to handle the connections. Are you having any issues or connectivity concerns with your apps or programs online, through any devices in the home? For your network, you can reset the password to make sure you only have access to it.

You're welcome !

No. The probes are coming from the WAN / internet. Be advised that DOS attacks from the internet could indeed slow down your overall connection.
