FTP issues with new Xfi modem

Is anyone aware of a solution to allow FTP file transfer to work again with the new Xfi modem? Every since my upgrade I am unable to transmit files for my website.

I saw some older threads about this, but no real solution on how to address settings other than turning off the Advanced Security. I really don't want to have to turn that on and off every time I need to do a website update.

Thanks for any insight.

Have you tried forwarding the proper ports in your firewall(s) for your FTP server / program to be able to function ?

@EG I wouldn't know how to do this... is this something I do in my Xfi settings? How would I know which are the proper ports to let go through?

You would need to look in your application's manual to know for sure what is required, but typically it is ports 21 and 20.

I use Filezilla, its free and has a great interface, drag and drop, i use the sftp setting instead of regular ftp, no issues on my end

So is Filezilla a site editor like Dreamweaver, or just a separate way to transfer the edited files to the site host?

I use DW to build and manage all my pages, then I let FZ do the transfer? And this gets through Xfi's 'block'?

FileZilla is a very good ftp/sftp client, it doesn’t design anything, it just connects to where you have your web files, I like it because I can download the whole site for backup, or I can upload 100s of photos with a couple of clicks, I don’t use Xfi, but I have no problem uploading files
