Frequent Modem Warnings

My NetGear CM1000v2 modem reports the following warnings every few hours:

  • RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power Exceeds Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW;[Edited: "Personal Information"]
    CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;
  • Dynamic Range Window violation

My connection seems to be stable. Should any action be taken to address these warnings?

Hi there, clayton.c! I hope you are having a good start to the week! You are at the right place for assistance with the modem's power level. I am glad that there are no service issues happening with the warning you are seeing. The power level does not always cause problems with your service it is only slightly out of range. The power level at my own modem runs a touch high but it works great so I leave it alone.

Do you have any amplifiers or splitters between the coax wall outlet and the back of the modem?

When was the last time you reset the modem?

No splitters or amps. Modem was upgraded about a month ago. It has been reset a couple of times since then. Thanks for the advise! Power ranges from about 8 to 10 dBmV. I'll just leave it alone then...

Things sound great with your setup and routinely resetting the modem, clayton.c. 10.0 dBmV is the first warning we get that it is high. It should work fine at that level. If you do notice any issues with your service or you see that number increasing, please let us know. We are here to help!

@clayton.c @XfinityRay

An FYI. It is equally important to keep track of the downstream SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) and the upstream power level values as well.

Downstream SNR is fairly constant at about 44 dB. Upsteam power ranges from 44 to 47 dBmV. Locked Downstream OFDM power is 11.6 dBmV.
