Right. When you put it into bridge mode, it only functions as a straight cable modem. There are no more routing / firewall functions. It would now be up to the firewall in your stand-alone router.

I shut off wifi by enablig bridge mode. On my netgear router.
Is that why my firewall is set to low and there isn't an option for firewall right now under the gateway at a glance.

Actually one more question. My gateway still says firewall set to low. But the reason I can't change it because I have enabled bridge mode right. What do you mean it would be up to the firewall in the router without wifi on? Like I said I am using the netgear model.
Would I have to turn on wifi to turn the firewall to high. After doing that if I turn bridge mode back on will the firewall remain high? Will it serve any purpose without the wifi on?
So just using the netgear router with ethernet connections does it matter if the firewall is set to low or high?

Does this mean that the router is no longer active in "Bridge mode", That the modem/router is only a modem for Arris TG1682 using wired only connections on the back of the Ethernet out ports?
Reason being only one computer can connect to the internet at this time, in bridge mode, which I never changed. Seems like there is no router to assign ip addresses to additional computers added to the WIRED network.
