firewall alert page

I received an xfinity web page when I first opened my browser explaining that I needed to sign into my account or purchase access by the hour. I've never seen this before. The alert page totally replaced my home page and I was denied access to the xfinity DNS until I responded with a selection. I performed a restart on my device and my connection returned to normal. Has anyone else ever experienced this odd occurence?
