Extending Xfi through an Apple Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
I have xfinitiy WiFi and wanted to extend my WiFi by connecting my AEBS through ethernet. AEBS was configured to "extend my network" and failed serveral times but then just started working i.e., green light came on.
When I use my iphone and test speeds the xfi shows very fast 300+Mbps but close to the Apple extreme base station its very low like 30Mbps. The AEBS is connected via ethernet to the xfi gateway and connecting to the AEBS with my laptop through ethernet, I see speeds 800Mbps as expected. So it looks like I didn't extend my wifi nextwork as desired, just have a switch box ala netgear.
I don't want to go to bridge mode on my xfinity as I will lose configurability from what I read and for some reason I'm not able to get the Apple to go into bridge mode. ... Any suggestions?
Thanks

Use the "Create a Wireless Network" option when setting up the AE rather than "Extend a Wireless Network". The AE will automatically recognize it's behind a router and configure itself into Bridge or AP mode.
