EXTENDER INTERNET SOURCE

I purchased a wi-fi extender for an area that needs the boost.

I plugged an ethernet cord into the device and have two questions regarding this;

1) Does the Wi-Fi extender utilize the ethernet connection as the source of it's internet?

2) Does the dual ethernet connection on the bottom of the device act as a switch so a computer can have LAN speeds if conneted to it?
