Extend Wifi to detached shed

I’d like to extend or add Wifi coverage for a finished shed. I purchased an xFi pod, but it didn’t extend coverage enough. What are my next options?

That is really going to depend on distance, and construction materials.  An outdoor access point may work out.  Direct line of sight works out better, and where you mount it becomes important.  802.11b (2.4G) works better for longer distance but it's slower.  Pay attention to the WiFi standard you are broadcasting and if that will work with your equipment.  A lot of them are PoE (power over Ethernet), so make sure it comes with an power adapter -- Xfinity equipment doesn't do that.

Distance is probably only 30-40 ft from the house.

@ItTakesGutts I usually don't mess with trying to sling WiFi very far.  Better connectivity, would be to just run an outdoor Ethernet cable.  Bury it right under the turf (after having the utilities marked -- that's free most places).

You'd get full speed in your shed.  Buy a cheap 5 port unmanaged switch, connect your gateway to that, and let the switch handle shoving the Ethernet back and forth to the shed.  A cheap Ethernet WiFi router for the shed will work out better if you are using it for an office.  Costs you less too.
