Ethernet switch

My house security cameras and all my hard wired internet lines run to my master closet where I had my own equipment set up with a ethernet switch to provide internet to all the hard wired locations in the home.

Xfinity has changed their policies on unlimited internet and require now we must use their equipment.

My problem is my new Xfinity modem Wi-Fi box does not allow me to use my ethernet switch.

What suggestions are there for me to fix this problem?

I only have internet with Xfinity. No cable, no home phone. Unlimited internet plan.

Thanks for reaching out to us, customers do not have to use Xfinity modems to have unlimited data. With our new plans that launched as of June 26th,  unlimited data comes with our new plans as well as the Xfinity modems. But as a customer you still have the choice to use your own modem and still get unlimited data free with our new plans or you can use our modem as well which that would be included free.

So if you're more comfortable using your own modem to work with your Ethernet switch go ahead and send me a direct message including your first and last name and I can add the personal owned modem back to your account

Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send your message
