Ethernet slower then wi-fi
Recently signed up with Xfinity. Hardware as follow: latest XB8 Gateway, my service level is 800 Mbps. When tested with Xfinity app, it says gateway speeds is 943 Mbps (117%).
When connected through Ethernet, I use an USB Type-C Gigabit Ethernet Network adapter and connect DIRECTLY to the Gateway using Cat8 patch cable (5ft).
My problem: my Wifi connection tests somewhere 500-560 Mbps, but I cannot get the Ethernet speed above 360 Mbps ( I tried all 4 ports).
I work from home and need to get the speed I'm paying for ...
Any help would be appreciated.

Xfinity equipment can have Ethernet problems. That being said, so can OS drivers, especially windows if it selects a generic driver that doesn't work very well for your hardware.
USB can also be a bottleneck. What you can get out of it depends on what hardware bus it's on, what else is in contention using that USB bus at the same time, and exactly what that controller on your motherboard is. It's might even be a USB 2.0 controller internally running the show even though it's a USB-C port, then you'd get a max throughput of around 480mbps or slower if it's sharing with something else. You'd have to look up your exact hardware specifications. Another USB port on your device may have a USB 3.0 direct connection too and work better.
You could try taking the OS out of it too. Download an Ubuntu DVD or make a USB memstick and boot from that. See if a different set of drivers helps for a test.
A better test would be trying something with a Native 1Gbps, or 2.5Gbps port. A PC or laptop with an actual physical interface.
