Ethernet ports not enabled

I got Xfinity about a week ago and I have the xbt-7 modem. It says the ethernet ports are not enabled and they are not lit up. How do I enable them?

Have you first tried power-cycling / re-starting the device by unplugging it for a minute ? Still no joy ? Try hard resetting the device to factory defaults by pressing and holding in the recessed reset button on the rear (or use the WPS button if it doesn't have a reset button hole) for 30 seconds. This can sometimes clear up some weird behavior issues. You will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be re-configured from scratch if you do the latter.

If that doesn't work either, get it swapped out for another. Good luck !

This did not help. I ended up buying my own modem because I can tell it's a common issue with the Xfinity provided modems and I didn't want to deal with that over and over again. Thanks, Xfinity, for providing a rubish modem in which EVERY ethernet port was disabled by default and no tools at my disposal to enable them.

Hello @user_ngmqwc. The ethernet ports should be enabled automatically, where is it telling you that they are not enabled? You may need to power cycle your modem.

@user_ngmqwc

Have you had a chance to try power cycling / resetting it ?

Yes. No help. Just bought my own because this is, apparently, a common issue. I guess Xfinity wants you on their wifi and not connected to their ethernet ports. Don't even have options within their tools for me to fix this on my own. Pretty frustrating.
