Ethernet lags trying to get internet

The last time I sw this lag was in the days of dial up. I am part of bulk in my building and never had lag before. All of a sudden about Nov of 2020 it takes 20seconds of bufffering and searching with ethernet to attain internet.  When doing some disgnosing etc.  it is a difficult regresion.

Is this due to a contractual change where we are put on a differnt tier?

Can I pay more to avoid this?

I have done a clean install, raised cable from cat5 to cat 6a to no abvail.

Thank you.

My subscription is for 600MBps and I have 530 due to tv and printer.

However my question remains. Why since Comcast recabled this building does my Ethernet unlike before take 20 seconds to connect to internet and the same with the tv. They are unrelated.

This is a regression as this lag never use to occer and nothing new happenned in my unit.

I even changed my cable fromcaat5 to 6a.

The techs are stumped and wnt to charge me for aa person to come in to ix something when we have changed nothing inside. It is an outside issue.

How can I get the ear of an informed person who can be of help?

I take it`s an apartment building? If so, And they did put new cable from pole to multijuntion box. And new single cable from box to your Apartment connection, And one cable from wall to modem, and nothing wrong with modem, I don`t know

Would need more info on how you have your connection set up, direct to modem, router to modem....?

There is another thread that may relate to the problem you are describing. For an unknown reason, that other thread is currently locked so no one can post there but perhaps you'd like to read through that thread and then post here if that is the problem you are having.

I guess it is no secret that this ISP is involved in the ethernet lag issue as so many subscribers are talking it up. We cannot all be wrong.

There are others.

My daughter has no trouble and she has the biig V.

I have spent hours trying to solve this ethernet lag issue. I have used ethernet for 20 years with no lag until a couple of months ago. I have concluded the ISP is the problem.

I cannt reach a good ear in Comcast any better than the next guy.

How can we find out if this is temporary and going to be fixed or if it is a permanent regression????

I resigned myself to the fact that I will use WIFI because Ethernet lag cannot be answered.

What I fnd distubing is that until recently, and for manyyears I never had an issue wth Ethernt and its all I ever used. All of a sudden, it took a half minte to get to internet  while WIFI gets on immediately like Ethernet used to..

I only ungraded a cable to cat 6a in an attempt to solve this. Nothing else was changed except Comcast running red wires thoroughout the building.

I am at the 600Mbps level and should be able to get right onto the internet as I always did with Ethernet.  Comcast is saying there is nothing rong on either end and I am unable to use Ethernet as before.  Wheen I Google, I find a multitude of Comcast users stating they have my problem. It is too bad we cannot reach a good ear at this ISP on an upper level instead of paying a tech to come over and leave with a charge to me and nothing improved.

InLeisure World (MD) there is a building wiith 800 units. I am onthe fifth floor.

A cable enters the room with the Gateway a combination of router with the Modem.

For year I chaanged nothing and in December Ethernet took 20 seconds to reach internet while WIFI did it instantly. I got aa cat 6a cable to no avail. When I googled ths issue it was all overthe web.

Comcast and Ethernet lag.

Could my bandwidth be cut back?

Incidentally as I pointed out in anoter post, the TV on the other side of the unit has the same issue. It used to go to receeption immedictael after clicking on but now you do not see reception for the same 20 seconds.

This is a gregression wwhich I cannot find an answer to.

@npd424 Not sure just how to answer you, I see you have multiple post on the same subject, and have not read them all. Since your WIFI connection has good speed, could be your computer LAN connection, router LAN connection. I would check them both.

Tech told me I am only getting 2% of my 600 MB per second and sending a technician over the building was just rewired and there’s something wrong with the connections within the building the building

@npd424 First thing I woud check is in device manager for errors on your LAN. Check these articles out they explain almost everything

How to check whether Lan card is working or not? (technofare.com)

Hope this helps
