Which speed tier are you subscribed to ? What is the actual speed via ethernet that you are getting ? Test it here: https://speedtest.xfinity.com/

I'm getting 88mbps at the moment on my laptop with wifi. It took over a minute for the speed test page to load up on my ethernet pc and then it said 24.9mbps. It takes from 35 to over a minute to open load up a page.

the pc with the hardwire ethernet has a malfunction unrelated to the network.  try different browser.   CPU may be overheating.

Are you saying that you used two different devices to test the speed ? If so, to have any chance at consistency for testing, you can't use different devices and / or methods. The same device and the same method must be used each time for comparative purposes.

I was trying to show that the laptop on wifi was fast while the pc directly connected to the modem was much slower. I guess I failed. Anyway I reset the modem twice and restarted and shut-down and restarted the pc the next day and so far it is working fine again. thanks to all for suggestions.

you did describe the symptoms nicely.   glad its fixed.   another possibility was the ethernet cable, should have mentioned, but seems like it was a software issue somewhere.

Good to hear. Hope that it holds up for you ! For curiosity, You never answered this question: "Which speed tier are you subscribed to ?"

Middle tier I think, speed tests show 70-90 range most of the time.

I have checked everything out and unlike a week ago when my WIFI and Ethenet were resonsive with no lag to internet now I have to wait 30 seconds for the Ether to connect to internet. WIFI is the same.

Even the second TV has the same lag problem.

All diagnostics have been run and I even perormed a clean installaion,.reset router within the gateway etc. I am bug free and it is obvious Comcast is recuperating the new cables being installed in the building.

It never ends . My daugher's Verizon is much better and less costly
