Ethernet connection issue

Hello, the Ethernet connection no longer works with my gateway. I have done troubleshooting and have come to the conclusion that it may need a firmware update. Could a technician help with this?

Have you tried using a different cable?  Also, inspect the ports that you are using on the modem and the device, looking for bent or damage pins.  On the device itself, make sure that the ethernet adapter is enabled and properly configured, and the wifi adapter is disabled.  You should also try plugging the device into the modem and rebooting the modem with the device powered on and connected.

Have you tried a hard reset to factory defaults ? This can sometimes clear up malfunctions like that. If you do that, you will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be reconfigured from scratch. Good luck !

Hello user_wztqx5 what make/model of modem do you have? For Xfinity leased gateway, firmware and software updates are regularly delivered to the modem during overnight updates.
