Espon printer wifi connection issue with XB7-T gateway

I got a new xfinity gateway XB7-T and try to configure my Epson ET-2850 printer to its wifi. But it always fails with MAC address filtering check failed. So did the gateway hard reset, login the admin page, confirmed that the Mac setting is allow-all. Also add the mac address of the printer there, disable the 5G wifi and leave 2.4G only to retry, but still failed. I see there are lots of complaint about this same issue in the forum here, but seems no one get the solution yet. Also tried to connect the Xfinity tech assistant online, spent several hours, got nothing. If anyone knows the solution, please help share. Thanks.

The same printer worked fine with my previous modem without any issues. So I'm pretty sure the issue is with the new xfinity gateway. Any suggestion from the community is appreciated as trying to find solution from xfinity tech support was so frustrated. THANKS.

The concern is not "Home Security Devices And Equipment" help related........... Topic moved here to the proper help section for assistance.

Hey @user_vhv4dm! This is a strange one. Doing a google search, it looks like it needs to be on the 2.4ghz band which you've already done. Have you check the what security profile you're on as well? Looks like the printer should support WEP, WPA, and WPA2. If the modem is set to WAP3 the printer won't connected. You should be able to find this in the Xfinity app > Wifi tab at the bottom > Wifi details.

If that is set correctly the other thing you can try to do a network reset on the printer itself by pressing and holding the network status button and then the power button until the lights flash alternately

And if that doesn't work you can try a full reset on the printer by going to Settings > Restore Default Settings > Clear All Data and Settings on the printer's control panel. This will erase all settings, so you will need to set up the printer from scratch.

Thanks for helping. I did try the following after reseting the gateway:

1. Disable the 5G wiki and leave only 2.4G on the gateway side;

2. Make sure the WPA2-AES is being used;

3. Make the correct channel is being picked up;

4. Reset the factory setting on the printer side.

It still did not work. So the final solution I used here, just in case, anyone hit the same issue as what I did.

1. login the admin page of your previous modem and disable its DHCP, use the Ip address of 10.0.0.2;

2. Use the cable to connect the xfinity gateway and your previous modem.

In this way, by using the previous modem as the wireless bridge, connect the printer back to the previous modem/route. Thanks.
