ERR_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT Error Message When Attempting to Access the Xfinity.com Website

Over the last few days, I've spent the better part of 6 hours on the phone with Xfinity support, plus researching online, to resolve the problem of not being able to access the xfinity.com website.

All other websites tested (dozens) -- no problem. Just the Xfinity.com website.  This problem was browser-independent and was not resolved by clearing caches, cookies, extensions, etc etc.

For reasons I don't understand completely, I was receiving two different error messages when I tried to connect:

<Quote marks added>

"The webpage at https://www.xfinity.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

ERR_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT"

or

"The webpage at https://jss.xfinity.com/securelogin/cima?sc_site=dss-dotcom&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fcustomer.xfinity.com might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

ERR_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT"

When I searched on the first part of those error messages ("The website at....") - no helpful results.

Then I searched on "ERR_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT"

That led me to a website w/ troubleshooting options:  https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/err_ssl_bad_record_mac_alert/

After running through the various options covered , I found one that worked for me: going into my "Killer Intelligence Center" to review the settings of my Killer E2600 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, then turning off the setting: "Killer Prioritization Engine."

Turning that setting off immediately cleared up the Xfinity website access problem. I turned the setting back on, checked in Edge and Chrome, problem came back; turned it off and checked the same  - resolved.

Hope that helps some of the dozens of other people who have banged their heads against this problem in various forum threads.

I have the same Ethernet controller, but cannot locate Killer Intelligence Center anywhere. I have looked and looked... nothing! Please, can you direct me?

Just in case it matters, my OS is Windows 10. In the Windows search box window, I typed in "Killer Intelligence Center," allowing me to then select the app. In the upper right hand corner of the app window, there's a gear icon for settings. Click on that icon, and one of the options that you'll see is "Killer Prioritization Engine." Slide to off, and you should be able to access Xfinity after that.

One thing I have discovered in the interim, turning off "Killer Prioritization Engine" does not appear to turn it off "permanently." I generally have to turn it off every time I login to my desktop.

Hope that helps at least a little. Wouldn't it be fantastic if Xfinity would make its web app, etc. compatible with this software???....  So far I have discovered ZERO issues with any other website / app ... just Xfinity.

I just set the setting to Manual (as opposed to Automatic when starting my PC), and it's been working on ALL sites; no more ERR_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT.

I did this to ALL Services that include Killer ......
