Enabling bridge mode

Hello, I recently got a new XFi gateway for 1 gig internet. I am trying to connect my existing router to it. I followed the steps to enable bridge mode that is available in the help articles. However, when i open the admin portal, there is no button next to Bridge mode

its just empty like below. the browser says there is an error in the javascript

Hi, we've got another thread going on here with the same issue (https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/customer-service/unable-to-turn-on-bridge-mode/6980c49cbef17951d8a6b119?commentId=6982aeca18df686529af935a)

I'm not an expert, but it looks like the button/switch is referenced in the html, it's just not showing up for some reason. It looks like people with multiple models are having this trouble so I don't know why xfinity hasn't fixed this yet.

I just got a reply on that other thread from a user @XfinityMartyR. Apparently their engineering team is aware of the issue and a support ticket has been logged.

I had this same issue yesterday. Could not put my Xfinity CGM4981 into Bridge Mode even with the tech on the phone. I had to hold the reset button down on the back of the modem (while plugged in) until the light on the front turned green. That factory reset it. After it fully rebooted I went back into the admin page and I had the ability to turn on bridge mode.

Just an FYI - the Technicolor CGM4981 Gateway is hot garbage, and I mean HOT. It is known to overheat and have thermal issues, once it gets too hot for too long it's basically no good, replace it at that point.

I have a tech coming out today to check our lines (getting 2500 upload latency and 700 download latency) contstanly, even when a device is LITERALLY sitting on my router.

I thought that Xfinity support can turn bridge mode on but after chatting with them where they always try and sell cell service instead of actually helping anyone, I did this to restore:

1. Start by factory resetting (Press reset and hold it, or if you have WPS button press for 30 seconds, then release, light will turn red)

2. In the app, you need to enable admin tool

3. After enable admin tool, then http://10.0.0.1 in your browser

4. User Admin, pass is on the back of your modem

5. Then you click Bridge Mode

6. Don't ask Xfinity to do this for you, they will only try and sell you other services you do not need!
