dual band router/can't split signal

My phone will ONLY connect to 5ghz if available, and I have all these "smart" devices that can only connect using 2.4ghz. So they can't talk to eachother and I can't operate them at all. IS there no way to split the signal of the newer dual band routers? SO FRUSTRATED. Tried talking to a customer service rep the other day, NO HELP. They eventually just stopped anwering me.

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

@EG

the new routers don't allow you to split the signal in this way, it's all automated.

I guess what I have is classified as a modem, but it's what all my devices connect to, so I guess it does both?

It's a TECHNICOLOR CGM4331COM

@corivh did you ever get this resolved? or can we not use smart plugs or devices with Xfinity :/ everything I’ve read said you can’t separate with the newest modems. I have the Xfi advanced
