Done being played with

Have had issues with my internet for the last 2 months on my cax30 modem/router. Finally got around to trying to fix the root cause and determined my problem was constant t-3 timeouts and was able to get a technician scheduled after about 8 hours with “live agents”. The service technician that came out and did not charge me but the day of the appointment, my modem all of a sudden was technologically bricked and stuck in a boot loop. Upon the service technician coming out, they stated they were pulling almost 3 gig from the lines with their own modem and when I tried to ask about my t-3 time out issue, was gaslit about how that’s gotta be caused by my apartments coaxial runs and that the xfinity techs don’t diagnose or fix anything under t-4 timeouts which didn’t sound right. So $500 later I got a xfinity approved 3rd party modem/router and separately had fixed my cax30 by leaving it plugged into the wall and was able to revert it to its previous state. Having seen the t-3 timeouts all of a sudden disappear, I called it a win and left it alone for a few weeks and now ready to address the root cause (my degraded isp coax lines likely outside of my building or up the street) contacted xfinity again. First to switch my private plan that was community provided to a new plan which only took an hour and then to diagnose a new issue I had familiarized myself with.. packet loss. Across my channel 32  and OFDM channel 1 & 2 I have several packet loss issues to the tune of 100million plus uncorrectable packets on each channel mentioned with all the way day to day-7.3dBmV. I reached out to live agents numerous times and the last straw is the audacity for Xfinity to try and charge me $100 for their degraded lines. I cancelled the tech visit and the next step is to cancel my internet service as I refuse to be charged for Xfinitys failure to consumers. I spent 20+ hours trying to get in touch with the right people and for the right people to fix the real problem, but to be expected to pay for their maintenance is where I’m okay with calling it quits. Will be looking into alternatives in the morning as I am very much done with this company after 7 years of being a loyal consumer.

Hello, @Pleasefixmyinternet

My apologies if we did not set the proper expectation with that scheduled appointment. Let me break down how it works. Service visits may incur a fee of $100 if a technician is required for installation or if the reported issue is not related to Xfinity services or equipment. However, this fee is waived for existing customers experiencing Xfinity-related service issues. It's important to note that if you still have the Service Protection Plan (SPP), it covers charges for service visits related to diagnosing and repairing in-home wiring used with Xfinity services, but SPP is no longer available for new subscriptions.
