Does XFinity firmware update reset default modem password?
I own my own Arris SB8200 modem, and I thought I had just forgotten my password for the modem’s config page (at http://192.168.100.1) but I have performed Arris’ “30-30-30” factory reset procedure twice and neither “password” nor the last eight of the modem S/N works as the default admin password.
Those are the only two options, and the only thing I can think of that could break that after a factory reset would be a firmware update that changed the default password. Is this something that has possibly happened? It goes without saying that in no case should XFinity be locking me out of my own equipment.

Note: I ended up solving this problem by replacing the modem. The MB8611 does not seem to exhibit the issue.

The default login credentials are admin (username) and the default password is password or last 8 digit of the serial number. The serial number is printed on the bottom label of the SB8200. Factory reset does reset to default login credentials. Any kind of firmware update on yours or theirs should not reset any login credentials.

Hello! Please send me a private message with your full name and full address. I can most definitely take a further look at this issue.
To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity
Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it
