Do I really need to upgrade my Motorola MG7550?

Xfinity sent me a note telling me that my device is no longer up to snuff due to speed increases on my account or in my area (or both).  Seems to be officially rated for service up to 300Mbps, but I'm getting 350 down/12 up according to speedtest.  The Moto isn't particularly new, but seems to be holding up just fine??

Hey there @user_6bed7b . Thanks for taking the time out of your day to bring this concern to Xfinity on forums! Did any of the above answers help, or did you still need assistance?

@XfinityDevinC - Pretty sure I am good with the current equipment for now, but on the next bump should probably get something new.  Thanks all.

Did it look like this?:

Your current device can't keep up with the latest speeds

You recently upgraded your Xfinity Internet speed, and as a result, your Internet equipment can't keep up with the latest speeds available to you. It's time to update your Internet equipment so you can enjoy the faster speeds you deserve. With faster download speeds, you will have a better experience as you work, learn, and stream from home.

To get the most out of your Internet, you will need to replace your current device with a compatible device that supports the speed available to you from your current Internet plan. Visit My Device Info to find compatible devices you can purchase.

Please note that if you do not swap your Internet equipment, you will not be taking full advantage of the download speeds your Internet plan offers.

Once you receive your new device, be sure to activate your device as soon as possible so you can enjoy the faster speeds available to you.

Thank you for being an Xfinity customer.

I got this notice a couple days ago.  I know it's wrong because I have a NetGear Nighthawk CM2050V I upgraded to back in April from a 4.5yo Arris.  The CM2050V is one of the models approved for the 1200/35 plan and supports downstream speeds up to 2.33Gbps (according to Comcast, the box says 2.5).

You can check https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/#auth to see if your Motorola MG7550 is still supported in your area.  It is possible they've upgraded speeds in your area and now your plan is more than 300Mbps.  It's normal to get a little more than plan speed when everything is working well, so 350/12 isn't surprising.

Yes, it was exactly the same message, and I'm going to assume that either 1) they don't actually know what kind of device I have (since it was not specified in the blurb, and the one I initially rented was certainly not capable of these speeds), or 2) they're just being extremely conservative with their device guidance and trying to head off some of the "why am I not getting the speed I'm paying for??" complaints from unsophisticated customers.  Or both...   Thanks for the reply!

We have new Comcast service 600 Mb. We already have a satisfactory router so bought a Motorola MB7621. Motorola's blurb says it's good to 1000 Mb.  Comcast says 600 Mb. It'll do 600 mb.+ but it's sometimes a good idea to overbuy a little. Consumer electronics vendors can be a little ...... optimistic ....... when stating their devices' capability.
