Do I need a different router?

I have an XB7 router and have a new pool robot that needs to run off of 2.4 ghz not 5, and the app doesn't allow you to change it, and the xfinity assistant doesn't understand what I am asking- do I need a different router and how to I get a hold of an agent to help me?
