dns issues

In the past few days I am having all kinds of issues with Comcast Internet. I think I have DNS issues and wonder if anyone else experiencing the same thing. Here is what I see most of the day.

As we all know it is almost impossible to get someone on the phone from Comcast, so I gave up trying to call tech support.

Yes! Cannot access email, says DNS server is unreachable or something to that effect.

It has been going on for at least four days and since I use streaming I am pretty much [Edited: "Language"].

@user_nfpql9​ My problem is that I get an IP address from Comcast, which means I cannot use a different DNS server because everything besides the IP address is given from Comcast. If I would change my Internet plan it would cost me about $250 a month, but with that I would have static IP address and I could use anybody's DNS server.

Hey there, @user_nfpql9. What sort of troubleshooting steps have you taken from your end? Have you attempted to access the email web portal from a different browser or device and experienced the same message?

I don't need to take any troubleshooting steps when I see that the Comcast assigned DNS servers are unreachable. I see this on my device that plugged in the cable modem and gets DHCP assigned IP address, gateway, and DNS servers. Yesterday I got a message saying that Comcast fixed the issue in my area that impacted the internet connection, so I canceled the technition's visit that was supposed to happen on Saturday, June 1st, but today the same issue resurfaced.

I am using a Macbook Pro with an M1 chip in it and the latest OS running. I see the DNS issue on the device that plugged in to the cable modem. I have SB8200 modem that is Comcast's suggestion to buy if you want to have your own modem. Everything was working fine for years, the issue I am having started last weekend. Yesterday I got a message saying that Comcast fixed the issue in my area that impacted the internet connection, so I canceled the technition's visit that was supposed to happen on Saturday, June 1st, but today the same issue resurfaced.

Shawn, after all the trouble I have with the service and not be able to get it fixed I decided to switch to FIOS. It is very sad that after 30+ years being a loyal Comcast customer I have to leave Comcast.
