disconnect  small cable box = no internet

I was moving furniture around and disconnect  the small cable box. By doing so it killed my internet. As soon as I plugged the small cable box back in my internet worked. I'm ask why did my internet stop working after the small cable box was disconnect.?

It sounds as though you disconnected your modem which connects you to the internet.
