Disabling wi-fi doesn't reduce signal

Because I get headaches when around wi-fi too long, I want an ethernet-only connection. I have gone through the steps for disabling wi-fi in the gateway, and my account confirms it is disabled and that I'm now connected through ethernet. However, my wireless radiation meter still shows the same signal coming off the router (it maxes out the meter, actually). The only way to get it to stop putting out signal is to unplug it. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, how did you solve it?

Hey there @user_3bf765! Thank you so much for reaching out to us here via our Forums platform. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing headaches and hope you feel well soon.

Since you have already completed the steps to disabling your WiFi, have you checked to see if you can see your network name on the list of available Wifi connections on a phone or laptop?

No, it is not listed, and WiFi is shown in my gateway as disabled. Yet my RF meter is still picking up 3.0/6.0 V/m from the router, which drops to almost nothing when I unplug the router. So even if WiFi is switched off, the router is still emitting radiation. I'm thinking of changing to a modem without wireless capability.

You might have the hotspot enabled

@user_3bf765 thank you for confirming. Are you using your own modem?

I no longer work for Comcast.

AFAIK. The Comcast supplied gateway devices still broadcast additional *hidden* networks even when the public and the private hotspots are disabled. These are used for interfacing with the Comcast home security systems, and they can't be disabled by an end-user. They may only be able to be disabled remotely by Comcast employees. YMMV.
