Dhcp not functional

Trying to connect my router to the modem. I can connect a laptop and go online. When I connect my router I get a "your isp's DHCP is not functioning error". Tech support has walked me through multiple power cycles with no effect.

Any recommendations to get me back online?

Does your router have a MAC address cloning feature ? If so, try cloning the MAC address of the laptop that works into it. And you'll need to powercycle the modem again after you do so. Good luck !

Thanks. I think the first time I tried this  I used the wrong MAC. Had to restart modem and ended up doing a hard reset of router. Tried again- pretty sure it took but i've ended up with an IP conflict. I tried accepting ASUS suggestion to use a different IP. NO GO. Tried it again with laptop and mesh nodes turned off.no go. Think I will hard reset modem and router and start from beginning.

FYI- I ended up doing a hard reset on both my Arris modem and Asus router. When I plugged the modem in I was able to do a new activation on the Xfinity app. That seemed to be the trick. All up and running again!
