DHCP Lease timeout on XB7 CGM4331 - can the "Client Lease Time" be adjusted?
I am new to xfinity with a DOCSIS connection and XB7 modem. My printer, which is only used once or so a week has been having DHCP/WiFi issues. The printer is a Brother MFC-J995DW - using the WiFi connection. The problem is, the DHCP lease will expire (after the 2 days) because the printer goes to sleep after 8 hours of non-use.
Is there any way to either adjust the lease timeout (currently says 2 days but does not appear to be adjustable) or just assign an IP address to the device?
Thanks for any help

You can probably assign the printer a static address and reserve it on the XB7. I haven't personally dealt with an XB7 but most routers will at least allow you to block off some IP addresses for static IPs so the router won't assign them using DHCP. So you just assign the printer a static IP and reserve it's address on the XB7. You'll have to figure out how to configure the printer with a static IP. It'll be a printer configuration issue, not something you can do on the router. Some routers will also allow you to assign a fixed address to a particular MAC address so any time that device asks for an IP address it always gets the same one. Worst case you can probably use a static even if you can't reserve an address. Most routers have a pattern to how they assign addresses, like starting with the lowest or highest number in the address range. If you can figure out the pattern you can assign the printer the last address the router will pass out, then it'll never actually pass out that address (unless you have like 200 devices) and the printer will be fine.
