@atejwani Have you tried changing the internet release time of the DHCP address within your personal modem?

@XfinityRobertA I have my own (not rented from Xfinity/Comcast) Netgear Orbi CBK752 ( CBR750 Cable Modem/Wireless Router + RBS750 Mesh Satelite). CBR750 doesn't permit user configuration of Internet DHCP Lease time. My understanding is that Xfinity, based upon my Cable Modem, "pushes" the configuration. Till about 1 month ago this used to be 2 days, not sure why it is down to 2 hours!!! Hence, reaching out to this forum.

Thanks again in advance.

@atejwani That's an impressive setup that you have there. The good news is that I am not seeing any resets of your device. I do see that three have been some T3/T4 timeouts. T3 / T4 Timeouts 5 / 0 4 / 0 3 / 0 3 / 0. Resets / Lost Syncs 0 / 0. This could be contributing to the issue you are having.

Anything to rectify the issues and from what end 1)Xfinity/Comcast 2)Netgear Orbi firmware 3)Cable/splitters within my home 4) Relax - enjoy the bandwidth, and live with the issues!!!

Thanks in advance again, @XfinityRobertA

@atejwani Is the DHCP release happening to all your devices or just one? What OS are you using?

All - every 1 -2 hours. OSes - everything under the sun!!! MacOS, Windows, iOS, WatchOS, iPadOS, Android tablets, etc. IoT devices - Nest, Ring, Kasa, etc... And with the Cable Modem/WiFI router (CBR750) and Mesh Satelite (RBS750) flip-flopping between them :(

@XfinityRobertA   Seriously?

"Have you tried changing the internet release time of the DHCP address within your personal modem? "

[Edited: "Inflammatory"].  Explain how a dhcp client controls the lease time on a dhcp server.

@XfinityRobertA

If they are referring to the external / public / WAN DHCP lease length that is assigned by the Comcast DHCP servers to the router / gateway device, then it can't be done by an end user. Only the Comcast system can control that. An end user may be able to control the LAN DHCP / private lease length that is assigned by the router's / gateway device's internal / built-in DHCP server to the connected network clients.

@EG , @XfinityRobertA _ It is the external DHCP lease length. Screen shot attached. Anything that can be done on the Xfinity/Comcast side to rectify? Thanks in advance.

Did you solve this issue? I also have the same system, and my lease is also very short.

Hi there and welcome to Comcast! You’ll need administrative access to your network router to be able to change these settings. While you can view the current DHCP lease time on your PC or Mac, changing it will require access to your router.

AGAIN. That is the LAN lease period that may be able to be controlled, not the WAN...
