Devices connecting to the furthest away pod, with significant performance problems

I have a gateway and a single pod in my house.   The gateway is about 12 feet away from my desktop and printer on the first floor, and the dot is on the 3rd floor.   My PC and printer automatically keep connecting with the pod on the 3rd floor rather than the one several feet away, and my internet for both is painfully slow.  If I unplug the pod everything reverts to the gateway and internet for the PC and printer is awesome, but then the people on the 3rd floor don't have any internet.   As soon as plug the pod back in...both the PC and printer switch to the pod again, with the painfully slow internet again.

How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Hey there, @cleetus8t88. That would definitely be frustrating to have your devices connect to the more inefficient access point when they have a better option available. What sort of troubleshooting steps have you accomplished on your end?
