Correctable Codewords DOCSIS 3.1

I'm getting sporadic errors on channels 1-31 and tons of correctable codewords on OFDM channel. It makes for packet loss and slow loading of websites.

DOCSIS 3.1 allows for Forward Error Correction. As long as the codewords are correctable it isn't a problem.  I suspect something else is going on as far as slow loading of websites.  Tried clearing your browser or DNS cache, running a ping or traceroute, other troubleshooting methods?

See: Internet Troubleshooting Tips   for more info.

FWIW, there is a known glitch with some makes / models of modem's firmware where the measuring mechanism incorrectly reads the power level, the SNR, and the bit errors for that channel. So it reads many errors when there really aren't.

Thanks for all the responses to my post. If there’s a problem with the  Motorola Cable Modem MB8600 firmware. Who is responsible for updates?

Every 10 to 20 days my modem stop/drop of the network internet and I have to reset when the corrected number of errors is a very large negative number and when the uncorrected number of errors increased.

Early this year a Xfinity technician/engineer with access to the central station, node, switch, drop was able to login with his laptop and see the errors at the backend I was reporting and shared screen shots of the cable logs. However he did not know about DOSIS 3.1 OFDM PLC Channel ID 29 or how to fix. He reported he would report his findings to the backend office.

This issue at my resident have been ongoing every since Xfinity upgraded from DOSIS 3.0. The issue was not major after the upgrade until last year since I’ve been working from home due to COVID 19 and loose network internet service unexpectedly.

I do not have have an issue with slow internet speed or websites or download or upload.

@hhalljr

Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue (copy your post and paste it there). Thanks. Re-closing this 10 month old dead thread that was improperly re-opened by the new forum software / platform. A known issue that is being worked on.
