user_nk9i7h, hi there and thanks for helping out EG! That is correct. Depending on the modem you have, you should see a steady white light. If the light is amber/orange, that means there is no connectivity. If you want the outlet wired, a technician will need to visit your home, and there will be technician fee associated with the labor.

No one can possibly know that remotely. Connect a modem to it and see if the light(s) are lit steadily.
