Connection gets worse at night

Never really had any issues but lately every single time at night 6pm-10pm I get minor packet loss in games and discord. If i check my connection speeds are fine, jitter is fine, packet loss seems fine but I am assuming it would only appear when it happens as it happens in bursts.

This neighborhood is newer and were on next gen connections and have been years with no issues until recently and only at night. Checking my equipment everything also appears fine. replaced all Ethernet connections despite no issues etc.

I don't know if someone can take a look at the downstream signal at night and see whats happening or maybe the node is being overloaded with more houses being built over here but it is noticeable. Maybe a tech can check if the node utilization at night over here or line noise?

I don't have any damaged coax cables and we don't use any splitters inside or outside of the house.

I completely understand where you're coming from, intermittent packet loss is often more disruptive than a total service interruption, especially during peak gaming hours. Since you've already verified your equipment and eliminated splitters, I'd like to take a closer look @user_lx1agz

If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account.

To send a Direct Message:

Ensure you are logged in

  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
  • As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
  • An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it.

Haven't gotten official confirmation but it appears to be on Comcast's side on one of the nodes named be-36011-cs01.1601milehigh.co.ibone.comcast.net

Getting packet loss from that node and that node only from any traffic coming to my house, confirmed with some friends that live in other locations that they are also hitting that same node with the same issues. around 50-52% packet loss and some jitter. Hopefully Comcast can get a tech to take a look at the node itself and see whats going on?

Since its at night exclusively I would say its simply overloaded and it happens in constant spikes until later at night. ping plotter also showing the same information to discord servers or anything else I connect to.

user_lx1agz, hello there and thanks for reaching out. I completely understand your concerns and know getting that resolved would make things better. I see you've mentioned that you're hoping Comcast can get a tech out to your home. Were you able to get that tech scheduled? If not, we can help you.
