connecting to wireless printer

I have always used a Mac with a wireless HP printer. Suddenly, I cannot get the printer connected to my laptop.  I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP yesterday and all options were tried.  They said the next thing to do is contact Xfinity.

Any suggestions would be great-have no idea why this just happened.  No changes to my account have been made.

Did this ever work with your Xfinity WiFi?  Is your MAC connecting to your Wifi properly?  Does your printer connect to your Wifi?  What errors show if any?  Your MAC isn't sending out its own Wifi signal or looking for a printer on its own Wifi connection, causing confusion is it?

Without knowing what was tried, the first thing is to make sure your printer is connected to your home WiFi network, and on the same network as your computer. Make certain your computer is on your home network, and not something like XFINITY or xfinitywifi.

If the printer supports Ethernet, consider connecting it with a cable instead of using WiFi.

If you have one, try using the set-up / installation disk that typically comes with printers or go to the HP website and download the installation software for your particular model and try it.

I was having the same issue with my Macbook Pro not connecting to my HP Officejet Pro 8610 after installing a new Xfinity modem/router and resolved it for my home network as follows:

1. Go to System Preferences

2. Click "Printers & Scanners"

3. Highlight your HP printer in the "Printer" box

4. Click on "Options & Supplies"

5. Click on "Show Printer Webpage"

6. On Printer webpage,  Click on  "Advanced Settings".

7. Select "SNMP" in the left column.

8. Select "Disable SNMPv1/v2".

9. Click "Apply".
