Connecting shark vacuum/ port issues

I have been instructed to open certain ports to get my shark vacuum connected but I don’t think this is the same as forwarding. Any help getting to the right person to help on this is appreciated.

Hello, @user_7841e0 thank you for creating a post here over Xfinity Forums. I want to help with your connection concern with you smart device. It sounds like your needing to look at steps connecting devices to your WiFi network and the channels (2.4/5/6 GHZ): https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/issues-connecting-devices-wifi-network

Port forwarding is different and commonly used more for:

  • Video games.
  • Some email application ports, like POP3.
  • Instant messaging.
  • Video conferencing.
  • Peer-to-peer file sharing.
  • Remote computer access.
  • Phone service that leverages voice over IP technology.

I did want to help get the proper expectations set up that our Xfinity gateways do typically combine your channels to one for optimize your home network. This article is great going over options with advanced WiFi settings inside the Xfinity App: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfi-advanced-settings

Please let me know if this is helpful, or if you're still needing assistance.

I tried based on the article included above but had no luck. Sark sent the following information but I don’t know how to accomplish this and I am unable to reach a person for help.

Please request that the following ports be opened or whitelistedon your router:

  • Port 80 (HTTP)
  • Port 443 (HTTPS)
  • Port 53 (DNS)
  • Port 55055
  • Port 55056

These ports are essential for your device to communicate securely and effectively with our servers.

is there someone who can tell me how to do this or who to contact to request it be done?

Hello @user_7841e0, thank you for the details. I have attached an article of Blocked internet ports list. If the ports aren't listed then they should be open.

Ok fair enough. I was able to connect the vacuum when I had the vacuum connect via the iPhone hotspot on my daughter’s iPhone rather than the router. Why did that work but not the router?  We can’t keep the connection to the hotspot.

Most likely your vacuum connects to your daughter's iPhone hotspot but not your router could be a compatibility issue @user_7841e0.

Any thoughts on what can be done about it?  You can see above what we’ve already tried.

If you haven't, I would reach out to the manufacturer support for your vacuum to see if they have some insight. We cannot troubleshoot 3rd party devices. Let us know what they say.

I did.  Their response was to request certain ports be open as outlined in an earlier post. But it seems that this might not be the issue according to the article I was given.
