connecting a 2.4ghz device

I am trying to connect a camera to my internet via a phone app. The instructions tell me that I must "ensure that your phone is on a 2.4ghz network before connecting". I have tried connecting and it appears to do so, but always comes back with "improper connection". I suspect my iPhone will always connect at 5ghz, so how can I  force my phone to temporarily connect at 2ghz to complete this connection? Or is it already connected to both 2.4 and 5 and there is some other issue?

The two WiFi bands have recently been combined into one with the Comcast gateway devices. Some devices get confused and don't know how to see / talk to combined bands.

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Associate the phone with the 2.4 band's SSID (broadcast name) and password.

@EG

I'm having the same problem. I have Wyze camera and Eufy cameras and I'm having the same issue with both.

My questions are - If I split the bands so I can connect my phone through the 2.4 band, will I have to reconnect all my devices - compters, iPads, amazon fire, etc? After I do that, the devices automatically remember which network to connect to, right?

Thanks!

 Hello! I'm happy to assist with any questions or concerns you may have! Are you still having issues with camera connection?

I no longer work for Comcast.
