Computer is not assigned a primary DNS suffix on Xfinity home wifi network
Hello,
I am trying to setup remote access to my desktop, but despite troubleshooting I am unable to find my computer's FQDN.
My machine runs Windows 11, and when I run >ipconfig /all, my output is the following:
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : <name>
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : hsd1.ms.comcast.net
When I then attempt to run 'ssh <user>@<name>.hsd1.ms.comcast.net' on my laptop, I am given a 'no such host is known' error code.
I have successfully ssh'd to and from this computer before under different circumstances, so I am confident that the proper SSH software is running. Additionally, I am able to 'remote desktop' (using the built-in Windows software) to this machine with no issues.
Additionally, upon running 'whoami /fqdn', I get the following error:
ERROR: Unable to get Fully Qualified Distinguished Name (FQDN) as the current logged-on user is not a domain user.
I am no expert, so I could be wrong in blaming this on my WiFi. However, I believe this has something to do with my DNS not assigning my computer a FQDN and I wanted to float this question to some xfinity experts here.
Thank you.

Thank you so much for your post for help with your home network questions. Since this is dealing with outside equipment and settings it is out of our demarcation to assist. I can say from personal experience that this sounds more like a Configuration issue, but I could not say for sure.
