Completely stopping Wifi radios on XB8

I have my XB8 in bridge mode. My router is pfSense.

The Xfinity hotspot is disabled in my account.

For Wifi, I use Ubiquiti Unifi access points - 5 NanoHD and 1 U6-Lite.

Unfortunately, a Wifi scan (Wifiman) shows hidden SSIDs from the XB8. It actually overpowers some of my other APs.

The interference is causing huge problems for my 300 IoT devices, which use 2.4 GHz channels.

How can I completely disable the Wifi radios on the XB8 ?

Please note that I'm on a 2gig xFi unlimited plan, and my understanding is that I must use a Comcast gateway, and can't use any third party modem without Wifi. So, disabling the radio on the XB8 is the only option. Or cancelling Comcast.

Thank you for reaching out and creating a new post. I appreciate you taking the time to outline everything so clearly. I see that despite taking the right steps on your end, you still see the Wi-Fi being broadcasted by the XB8. We can check on this further if it's giving you trouble.

I do love our equipment, but I also wanted to point out that you can indeed use your own equipment with the Next Gen Gigabit X2 speeds. The most updated third party approved device list can be found here: https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2024.09.18%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf. Please note you'll see two sections. You see one list for the "Next Gen Speed tier" and another list for "Recommended Devices." The top section, for Next Gen is what you'll need. The devices under "Recommended Device" would be for the traditional speed tiers not within a next gen area.

@XfinityVianney Thanks for your response. It isn't that I dislike the XB8, but no single combo device can be the best at everything. Just like with audio/video equipment, I prefer separates. The XB8 probably meets most consumers needs if they have a small dwelling and low number of devices. This is not my case.

As a router, the DHCP server can only manage 64 reservations,  when I have over 400. It is very slow to add them. Changing them often fails. It doesn't support backing up or restoring the configuration. It doesn't allow for inbound VPN. These are the reasons I don't use the XB8 as a router.

The XB8 Wifi Is fine for a small area. But for a big one, without wiring, a mesh system is needed. That is why I use Unifi for Wifi.

Thank you for the link to other equipment. I'm on the xFi complete plan. I'm getting it for free for the first year, rather than for $30/month. Will I be able to keep that discount if I buy my own equipment ?

madbrain76 The Xfi Complete program requires that you use a Xfinity Gateway modem, so if you purchase your own device you would end up losing that promotion.

@XfinityBrianH Thanks for confirming. The service is too expensive without that promotion. It seems like my only option is to cancel my service altogether.

madbrain76, I can certainly understand not wanting to lose the promotion, which is another great benefit of xFi Complete. As outlined here, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/hide-disable-in-home-wifi completely disabling it would not be an option for xFi devices.
