Compare WiFi speeds of rented XB3 DPC3941T cable modem/router combo to the newer AC1900 models.
I am getting ready to start streaming and I need a fast reliable WiFi. I currently have the rented XB3 DPC3941T cable modem/router combo because I love the home phone option. I am not too tech-savvy but I realize that most people are telling me I need at least AC1900 specs. I also realize that this combo is several years old and it probably doesn't meet or exceed these specs. I have searched for specs that made sense or at least addressed similar specifications, but all I get is a handful of Greek figures and empty promises telling me it is capable of speeds in excess of 700mps (and we all know this doesn't happen).
Do you know how the AC1900 protocol speeds compare to this model?
If it is significantly faster and since I want to keep the home phone service (so I need a modem with this feature), can I simply use one of the ethernet wired plugs and connect it to an external WiFi router to bump my speeds?

Can't see your pic. Since you are a new poster, it needs to be approved by a Forum Admin. That could take some time. In the interim, you could try hosting it at one of those free third-party pic hosting sites like Imgur or Photobucket and post the link to it here.

No worries, the photo was just the label on the bottom of the modem/router.
Thanks for the details, I am slowly piecing this together in my brain.
This link wouldn't open for me (https://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode), but with your help, I found the link below. It went through the procedure and mentioned the pitfalls of using this method:
https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Internet/ANSWERED-How-To-Turn-Bridge-Mode-on-and-off-on-Xfinity-modem/ta-p/3059708
Do you know the speed specs for this cable modem/router? I think I found that someone mentioned the wifi router is rated as N600, does that make sense? If so, does it makes sense to add a side-car router or perhaps, should I replace the entire cable modem with this https://nbvstore.com/products/motorola-mt7711-24x8-cable-modem-router-with-two-phone-ports-docsis-3-0-modem?variant=32268492406924?
Thanks again for you help
