Are you sure that you should ? Maybe it is needed ? Anyway, you have to also take it out of the coax path. Unscrew the coax cables and use a double female coax connector if needed. Or plug the modem directly into the wall outlet.

You might very well need it if the incoming signal is too weak. The modem would need to be directly connected to the wall outlet with a piece of coax jmoer cable.
